Its a fact that there are more people being put in jail in america then any other time.
And while i know this is a bad thing, why?
How does it show our culture in decline?
Thanks! Abby.
It cost tax payer money like 50,000$+ dollars a year to keep one prisoner is prison. Idk the exact amount google it.

Does the inmate have to find out when the paperwork will go thru or does my friend have to call the jail.
Baby Girl,
no offense, but it may be best if you waited with the marriage until the inmate is being released from prison. Another aspect is that getting a job these days is darn difficult, yet impossible for a convicted felon. I don’t know what kind of life you have in mind for yourself, but I can’t imagine just scraping by can be very tempting. There are about 312 million people currently in the U.S. How about picking one that at least is not a criminal? How about doing one better by finding one that has a career and will be able to provide you with a decent life, nice things, vacations instead?
We can’t pick our parents, but we can pick whom we get married to.
Just thinking out loud here.

I understand federal and state prisons, but what dictates the location of the prison an inmate is sent to. Is it the state they committed the crime?
EDIT: If the offense is a state crime, what dictates what prison they are sent to.
only one thing: ROOM availability.. there is NO guarantee of anything else!

The population of our prisons have increased since the war on drugs was started. It is obviously not working. there are programs that have proven to be successful but are not being utilized. congress just approved a huge amount of funds to build more BOP facilities. Most if not all of these facilities are managed by private unities that are more costly to taxpayers. we need to stop paying more for incarceration and invest more in the children that are the most disadvantaged.
Not have illegal drugs…?

I always see maximum security inmates wearing their prison pants and white tee shirts if they’re not wearing the uniform top. Does the state issue the white tee shirts to all of its inmates? If not, how do they all get them?
They are allowed to receive quarterly packages from their families. In those packages can be anything from food stuff to clothing and shoes and toiletries. They can be purchased from specialty prison commissary stores.

Does an inmate incarcerated at a federal prison have to file federal tax return for every year they are locked up? Do they have to file state returns even if the state they are presently in isn’t their home state? Can a relative claim him as a dependent for every year they are in prison?
No they don’t file federal or state tax returns and I suggest not claiming one as a dependent either. (unless you can prove more than half their care)
That is clear cut defrauding the law, you could end up in jail yourself.

Incarceration means being locked up.
The difference is that in one case you are sent to prison and in the other case you remain at liberty, probably with severe restrictions on where you can go and who you can be with.

I have a senior project to do in my school. It includes a thesis to prove, an interview, and 15 hours of some kind of hands-on experience. I thought maybe going to jail or juvenile hall would be a good idea for like 2-3 days. Thank you to anyone who answers, any other senior project ideas are welcomed too. Thank You.
as long as u get it approved by the teachers

What would happen if an inmate reaches the end of their sentence, but he has no family or friends and no home to return to? Do the correctional officers just drop him off at a bus stop somewhere and let him out into the world? They can’t legally keep him in prison, can they?
they give him a few bucks and a bus ticket and say see you later which they probably will
