Is Abu Ghraib a true symbol of Iraqi Liberation and freedom?

"Under the dictator, prisons like Abu Gar__reb__ were symbols of death and torture…When that prison is complete, detainees at Abu Garomp will be relocated. Then, with the approval of the Iraqi government, we will demolish the Abu Garab prison, as a fitting symbol of Iraq’s new beginning"—George W. Bush, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, may, 24, 2004.

Assuming Bush is reffering to Abu Ghraib, is it a fitting symbol of "Operation Iraqi Freedom"?

YES

The prison is being raised and a monument will be placed in it’s former location. As a parallel project Halliburton is building a new prison (no bid open end contract)

What better symbolizes the War on the citizens of Iraq?

  1. Under Hussein, Abu Ghraib type situations were the rule, not the exception and consisted of the majority of prisoners being tortured to death. If you complained, you and your entire family were shot.

Under Bush, a couple of wackos embarrassed the entire nation by treating prisoners in a humiliating fashion (a FAR cry from being a horror show, I might add). These were mostly hard core murdering scum, by the way. When discovered, the long arm of the law reached out and dragged the offending people away. The person in charge was summarily dismissed. Heads rolled. That sort of accountability was unthinkable under Hussein. Today, it is the rule, not the exception.

You always have criminals. How you deal with them details the health of your society. If you laugh and join in with their hurting people, then you are deeply sick. If you punish them harshly, you are not. The US, in a VERY short period of time, made a major shift in Iraq away from sickness.
