My brother is in the big muddy river correctional facility in illinois. He is only supposed to spend 6 months in there. But his id is blue and people are saying that means some thing’s wrong. Does anybody know what the color classifications are for idoc?

The best thing for you to do would be to call the facility and ask about the color coding. The other people, have they been to that facility to know the color identification codes? Hope it’s nothing bad

I am in the second semester of my first year in college. I want to eventually work with teenagers in a correctional facility, such as a substance abuse center, "boot camp", etc. What degree do i need to obtain in order to do that? I was thinking psychology?

If you posess a degree - or any other qualification - then you’ll already be ahead of the bunch when it comes to searching for careers. My friend has a degree and he wasn’t sure what direction to go with it, but he uncovered some good guidance on the resource in the resource box below which guided him to decide that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is plenty of guidance on the resource regarding other careers.

I need to know the estimated cost to build an 8000 sq ft Correctional Facility. If you have any information as to where I can find this please let me know. Thank you.

R.S. Means, now Cost works, will give you a square foot cost.
You can find this at a public library

Stephanie-
I have no doubt that you have to deal with things that noone should have to, however I’m not trying to belittle you or minimize your contribution to society, I’m just saying that the fact that they’re locked up like animals is most likely ta big part of why they are the way they are. You’re absoulutely right in that I don’t have to deal with the level of stress that you do, but at the same time neither of us have been on the opposite side of those bars. The label of prisoner stays with them for the rest of their lives whether or not they reoffend. I realize that the risk of recitivism is not to be taken lightly, but at the same time how can we expect prisoners to want to turn their lives around when, even if they do, they still get the same treatment?

Probably for the same reason that the "War Department" was changed to the "Defense Departmen". It sounds so much nicer. And it can be nicer, if it’s sincere. But if not, it becomes insulting to our intelligence.

i was wondering if anyone knew of a calling card that i can put on my home phone so that i can recieve collect calls from a correctional facility untill the card on my phone runs out…

What you do is its called Telelink the number is advanced pay i have the number 1-800-483-8314 you pay 25 or 50 and the inmate can call you at anytime. You just use your credit card or bank card and he/she will be able to call the house and it doesnt cost the house any money since you clearly already paid.

How do i address a letter to an inmate at the nassau correctional facility. Please let me know because i really need to send this letter and make sure it gets to him and i dont want it to end up in the wrong place or have him not get it.

Fairly simple here. Call the facility and ask for the mailroom. Identify the inmate ( you may need his date of birth or social if his name is common). They will give you his inmate number. You can also get the mailing address from the same officer. Address the envelope as follows:

Inmate Name and Number
Name of facility
Address
City, State, Zip Code.

I hope this helps and you can find it useful

i would like to know if each new jersey correctional facilities has a web address that gives specific details about their facilities

http://www.state.nj.us/corrections/index.shtml
There’s the home page, which has links to individual facilities.

Ja, Apfelkuchen ist allowed in Deutschland, but not anywhere else in the world …except of course Amsterdam, that is.
In all other correctional facilities it is strictly classified as a dangerous contraband and will not be tolerated in some cases within several kilometers of the outer walls of a prison.
So…Why Germany, you may ask?
Because only in Germany are these delectable fruity pastry confections more or less made LOVE to, rather than simply eaten.
And rather passionately, I might add.
So, you see…to deny this sensual substance to German inmates would be tantamount to cruel and unusual punishment.
Denying conjugal apple pie visits in the German penal system…why, most of those poor, incarcerated German bastards would spontaneously combust…and nobody wants that on their consciences!
