do you guys know were i can read about their policy on mental health, what it says exactly. and why is their policy not working?

Their "policy" is to provide excellent care to the tens of thousands of inmates that require mental health care.
The reality is quite different.
Governor Ronald Reagan shut down the State hospitals that had cared for the insane and put them all on the streets. Of course, most ended up in CDC and remain there.
CDCR is now under the stranglehold of the guards union that bleeds off all of the available cash. Budget cuts mean less money for everything, and prisons are at the bottom of the list anyway, so as you can imagine CDC inmates receive no care beyond baseline medications.
Think of the worst place in the world and multiply it by 10, then imagine how these guys are when they get shoved out the door.

I have very bad credit. A repossession, defaulted student loans, about $10,000 in collections? Will this really hurt me in determining if i will be a suitable candidate?

I cannot answer for California, but many agencies do take credit into consideration because they would view a person with your credit a High Risk officer. This is due to the fact that some of the inmates will try to buy you, and in detention centers this is very dangerous, and counter productive to you, other officers, and other inmates.

I know its some kind of prison but i just dont know what it actually is and where its located.

The hub of TDCJ is in Austin. But as for the actual operations center, it is in Huntsville, Texas. There are over 150 prisons in the system with over 150,000 prisoners. Check the link for more information.

Does anyone have any information about the Colorado Department of Corrections training academy? I start soon and I am not aware of a few things.. Do they have a gym that you can work out before or after the day is over? Also what type of housing do they put you up in while in the academy? Any info would be great!!

Yes the do have a gymn, there housing program changes frequently so you will either have to wait or give them a call.

I heard they are hiring a lot and need people bad. I also heard they are paying for people to move there when they hire them. I am supposed to go to Montana to work for Corrections Corporation of America.

I am going to be starting the corrctional officer training academy in northern California pretty soon. What can i expect as far as physical expectations and what kind of book work is entailed? What happens in the academy?

Check with one of the recruitment officers.. I’m sure they would know more than anyone here unless they have been there.

How would one go about filing a complaint with the dept. of corrections… if you work for them.. my husband is being harrassed at his job…. badly….and no one is listening to him….so, he wants to take his complaint higher up… how does he go about doing that… who would he file a complaint with … please no smart "A" comments….thanks.
