My friends uncle is in jail in texas and they don’t want to talk to any of their relatives so my friend & i are trying to find out the causes of people to stay in jail for 5 years?

First, a clarification. As a general rule, someone is in jail because they haven’t been to trial yet, or because they’ve been convicted of a misdemeanor, which is punishable by a sentence of up to two years in jail.

If you’re convicted of a felony, with a sentence of 2 years to life, you generally do your time in a prison instead of a jail.

However, a decade or so ago, Texas came up with a new classification of crimes called "state jail felonies", which were punishable by up to two years in a state jail.

So, one question is whether you really meant "jail" or you meant more generally "locked up".

Another question about your question is whether someone has been sentenced to at least 5 years, or they’ve actually been locked up for at least 5 years.

Wardens are better able to control their prisoners if they’re able to offer them "good time" for behaving while they’re in prison. Accordingly, as a general rule, one will normally serve a fraction of their sentence locked up, if they behave. (exception: state jail felonies are served actual time). So, to receive a SENTENCE of 5 years, they’d have to be convicted of a felony of the 3rd Degree, 2nd Degree, or 1st Degree. But to actually serve at least 5 years, it’s unlikely to have been a 3rd Degree Felony.

For details on the types of crimes look up the Texas Criminal Code online. You’ll find that in many cases it depends on the seriousness of the crime. Possession of a small amount of marijuana is a misdemeanor, more of it is a 3rd degree felony, even more is a second degree felony, and even more of it is a 1st degree felony.

But, you probably want to know what your friend’s uncle is locked up for. If he’s in prison, you can look him up if you know his full legal name and date of birth in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division web site — and find out exactly what he’s locked up for.

I have this placement on my Chart and I’m a Scorpio.. So I have more characteristics of water.. So why are they important places for such people?

Interpretations mention jails and hospitals in regard to Pisces because it is the traditional sign that rules institutions. It is the water sign that rules things that are hidden from the masses. Cancer rules things hidden from each of us; Scorpio rules things we hide from each other and Pisces rules things hidden from everyone. In earlier times mental and physical illnesses were not understood and deemed to be within the realm of the unknown. We know much more now and don’t think of his sign or its house, the 12th, as evil or demonic. You should look at this placement as more of an emotional limitation than institutionalization.

I just want to know :) No sweetie Im not going to jail but someone I know has went and he had to cook so I jsut wanted to know
Clearly Im not asking if it is spreaded through food ….if i was that would have been my question, I want to know if the guy had an aids test duh!

I would say probably not since under privacy laws which vary from state to state, they are not allowed to ask if you are HIV positive or not. They do have sanitation rules in place to keep people from getting food-borne illnesses. Thy have to wear gloves, hot food must be kept hot, cold food must be kept cold all so you don’t get sick. Even if a prison cook was HIV positive, they would have to put their bodily fluid (blood, urine etc) into the food for it to effect you, and even then the chance of infection is very slim.

I am looking for a friend in Jalisco Mexico jail. His name is
Sergio Navega. He was taken to jail about two months ago.

There is a telephone service where they might be able to tell you where to call to locate a person in jail, the number is (if dialed from the US) 01152-55-5658-1111, or you might wanna check the prison’s web site, try to find it by using the prison’s excat name, which you didn’t mention.
Also, check this website: www.pgr.gob.mx it’s in spanish.

I say it will teach them a lesson to stop encouraging illegal immigration and treating our border like a joke?
Jazzmine: And you are a damn tree hugging hippy

YEAH!!! Finally someone who thinks like I do - APPLAUSE APPLAUSE!!!!!!! I SO agree!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dump the WORST of our prisoners off at THEIR border and secure our borders!!!! We’d definitely get their attention. Just empty out our prisons and stop our taxpayers from having to support them. Love ya man - think I’m gonna cry! Wonderful idea!!!!

Or look at this on what to do with illegal aliens:

George Carlin’s Solution to Save Gasoline:

Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use.
The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down. Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the border. When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq . Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military. Give him a soldier’s pay while he’s there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot. This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves. If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo. Problem solved.

Do police go to public prison when they are arrested for crimes, or they go to special jails?
because you know, they are cops, and they not survive in jail, since most crimminals know who they are.

They go through the regular system, but are normally held in a special protection unit within the prison where they house other prisoners that aren’t judged to be safe in population. Of course the ex-cop can decline any special treatment, but I have never heard of one doing it. It’s funny with all the prison special on TV they haven’t covered this topic.

Yes you can call to find out if they are there

Especially in the U.S.

OK, I get it, there’s a lot of homosexuals in jail but, still.

And, I mean, it’s the worst thing that can ever happen to a man IMHO.

Since when are all prisoners in isolation/solitary confinement?

Jails are overcrowded

Ergo ..

That would mean the wardens would have to hire…

1. Janitors
2. Laundry people
3. Cooks
4. Plumbing people

No revenue would come in from any other job such as field work, telemarketing, making clothing, washing & maintaining vehicles etc etc etc.

If all prisoners QUIT doing anything and just sat there, would prisons lose all financing thus having to release all but the haneous criminals that taxpayers are willing to really PAY to keep locked up?
I don’t think some of you understand the concept of prison. The wardens have budgets. IF the prisoners are not working because NOBODY can make them work, then they will have to hire a tremendous amount of staff.

This would be an enormous amount of money to the prison. They simply could not afford it. Think of EVERY job the prisoners do to keep the prison running. Now think of the wardens having to hire people with real $$$ to do the jobs.
Also, it is required for prisons to give prisoners a fairly clean and decent place under human rights. So it’s not like they would get away with them rotting in their cells.

No, taxpayers would start insisting on what should have been done a long time ago. Which is to stop giving prisoners so many perks. It’s a punishment, not a Holiday Inn. Before most people would want to see prisoners, even less heinous criminals, out on the street, we’d want to see costs cuts. Shut their cable off and take away the TVs and sell them,, whatever benefits that could be cut would be cut. If an honest person in our society can’t afford something, then prisoners certainly shouldn’t have it either. Frankly as someone said above, the prisoners would crack before the public would on this issue.

It’s a punishment, as far as I am concerned they don’t have a choice. Quitting is something you can do when you have control over your own life, when you break a law bad enough to go to prison, you are giving up your rights. Put them on a chain gang and let them pick up trash by the side of the road for all I care. They took away from society, then need to repay their debt.
