What’s the regular court/correctional process when someone is arrested carrying drugs thru the Mexico border?
someone I know has been arrested and I am trying to locate him trhu the correctional facilities on southern california…how can I do it? whats the fed agency I should contact?
He won’t likely be in a state prison unless his case was turned over to another agency for prosecution. Sometimes, if the feds are too busy to take a case or it doesn’t meet their minimum guidelines, they will ask the state, county, or local law enforcement agencies if they want to prosecute it.
Call the Port of Entry where he was arrested, if you know which one it was. If you know the state where he was entering to, call all of them.

You can also call the Bureau of Prisons to see if he is in Federal Custody.
My advice, wash your hands of this person. If you lay down with dogs, you get fleas.

Depends on which side of the border they were arrested on. If the US side- most likely the arresting authority was either the Border Patrol or ICE. If the Mexican side- the Mexican police have your friend & I really feel sorry for your friend. Mexican jails are a living nightmare. You can lay in your cell and wake up screaming only to realize you weren’t asleep.
