Does the inmate have to find out when the paperwork will go thru or does my friend have to call the jail.

Baby Girl,

no offense, but it may be best if you waited with the marriage until the inmate is being released from prison. Another aspect is that getting a job these days is darn difficult, yet impossible for a convicted felon. I don’t know what kind of life you have in mind for yourself, but I can’t imagine just scraping by can be very tempting. There are about 312 million people currently in the U.S. How about picking one that at least is not a criminal? How about doing one better by finding one that has a career and will be able to provide you with a decent life, nice things, vacations instead?

We can’t pick our parents, but we can pick whom we get married to.
Just thinking out loud here.

The population of our prisons have increased since the war on drugs was started. It is obviously not working. there are programs that have proven to be successful but are not being utilized. congress just approved a huge amount of funds to build more BOP facilities. Most if not all of these facilities are managed by private unities that are more costly to taxpayers. we need to stop paying more for incarceration and invest more in the children that are the most disadvantaged.

Not have illegal drugs…?

They are allowed to receive quarterly packages from their families. In those packages can be anything from food stuff to clothing and shoes and toiletries. They can be purchased from specialty prison commissary stores.

No they don’t file federal or state tax returns and I suggest not claiming one as a dependent either. (unless you can prove more than half their care)
That is clear cut defrauding the law, you could end up in jail yourself.
