yes you can, depending on your conviction, most criminal records become spent after a period of crime free behavior, this also depends where you live, best place to find out is on the net, check out your state gov legislation, or federal legislation, as I dont know what country you live in this would be your best option.
References :
Yes they can become certified and licensed in trades of choice. I am an ex felon myself and am considering the field of pharmacy technician. I wrote the certification board and let them see what I was charged with . They replied by letting me know I would not be able to take the certification exam until 2012. The wait is 5 years.
References :
In Texas you can get a plumbing license if you pass a review. Each applying felon is subject to a review by the Board of Plumbing Examiners, some get a license, some don't, a lot depends on the crime. Fraud or sexual crimes, definitely not. You can also lose your license if your convicted of a felony.
References :
Yes, trades do not normally have good conduct or character requirements in place for certification. The felon will normally not be bondable, which can be a problem for some trades (most plumbers who work on call are bonded, for instance). That does not prevent the felon from becoming a registered tradesman, it simply limits where and under what conditions he can work.
