When we release criminals from incarceration doesn’t the threat perpetuate?
As a society we have to realize that the current system may not be the best solution because it allows criminals to get back on the streets and continue their crimes after they serve their terms. Many of these criminals are in for serious crimes, how can we expect their state of mind to change after a prison sentence?
Cmon everyone we can’t act like the system is perfect how it is. I’m just opening up for a conversation on changing how we deal with criminals, I have not expressed my solution.
We can’t expect their mindsets to change. They just learn better and more efficient ways to do their crimes, those who will. There are some who do get rehabilitated, but that has nothing to do with the state. It’s really them doing it in spite of the state. There are three answers. The electric chair for everyone, not much of an answer. Continue as they have been, or find a better way.
Yet another knee-jerk reaction from someone how doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
You can’t just expect to lock up every criminal and throw away the key. Sure the most extreme offenders sure, but the less-serious offenders would benefit from rehabilitation programs. Countless studies have shown this.
Also, the vast majority of prison inmates are NOT violent. The vast majority of prisoners in the US are nonviolent drug offenders.

The entire idea being putting anyone behind bars is to rehabilitate them. It is almost sickening to me to hear your opinion. Yes, I am defending "criminals" who serve terms that completely outrageous.
With the entire system we having being as subjective as it is, how can you say that we are perpetuate our problem by releasing criminals?
But, by trying to understand your perspective as a person who probably is not very cultured and only knows what they hear It does sound like we would be causing the problem to be worse. But the word criminal doesn’t define anyone if looked at from everyones perspective. Holding anyones freedom from them is one of the most serious issues we deal with, the point is to correct their behaviors, not keep them behind bars their whole life.
We put people in positions where they can’t do anything and we all look at them and say "Look", maybe the cause of their actions could be fixed easier than dealing with the problems.

It’s like children being punished, criminals may learn not to learn not to commit the same action again, and when the punishment is over, the knowledge that punishment awaits wrongdoing is a preventative. There may be some issues with the justice system, but I am not qualified in or experienced with it enough to outline them. Our system has evolved, and is still evolving from a long history.
