What Percentage of Inmates Actually Change After Prison?

I need to know a close percentage of inmates that actually change to good after prison. Also if you have any other facts that would be great. Thanks in advance.
I did try, why do you think I’m asking here?

Thanks to the first answer, but I need a percentage.

If I remember right the last figure I saw was that about 75% of inmates wind up being recidivists.

  4. I don’t have a source to cite, but my estimate would be that only 10 percent or so actually never offend again.
Most people who actually go to prison have numerous convictions and have been put on probation at least once.
The ones that haven’t been given multiple chances to change are those whose first offense is particularly heinous, and many of them are sociopaths.

I’ve worked as a PO for 11 years. I have a lot of people who get put on probation and who straighten up. However that figure is likely under 33 percent. Those are the people who got caught for writing hot checks, receiving stolen property or other stupid mistakes. Drug offenses account for most of the crime in this country, and most addicts return to addiction after release.
