why do death row inmates stay on death row for such a long time after being sentenced to death?

After being sentenced to death, why do some many inmates continue to stay on death row, in max security prisons, on the state’s dime?

I’m not sure what they talk about. But I hear they all watch Oprah.

  2. The appeals process takes a long time, though most states take quite a while to complete the executions even after appeals are exhausted.
