How long can you go to jail for robbery?

Ok so this is the first situation:

A guy over 18 walks into a store in Illinois unarmed. He steals under $300 dollars of things. This is his first time being arrested. How long will he go to jail for. How long will he go to jail for a second offense?

Situation 2:

A over 18 guy walks into a store in Illinois unarmed. He steals over $1000 of things. This is his first time being arrested. How long will he go to jail for. How long will he go to jail for a second offense.

Please answer both questions.
Thanks.

each state has different limits…are we talking about "shoplifting" ?

…also…it depends if you "plea guilty to a lesser offense" to avoid a trial

these people need to take the advice of his/her lawyer (im not a lawyer)

  2. Neither are robbery. They are thefts. Robbery is the taking of property by force or threat of force.
