In US jails, can people watch executions for those on death row? What is the process like?
So the families or the victim and the "killers" family go watch?
They usualy have a couple witnesses to it as well as direct family members of the victim if they request to be there,
No, only a select few get to witness the actual execution.

i am not anything to do with law but have seen news shows talk of it,
No they can’t.
In fact, not enough people can watch it. It should be on prime time.
What kind of deterrent is it if nobody can see it? Can anyone tell me how many executions there have been this year? Probably not.

In Texas the victims family, the killers family, and a few news reporters are allowed to watch.

It often depends on the state you live in, the nature of the execution, and other factors. Sometimes, only the immediate family is allowed to witness. Other times, unrelated and unbiased people are used as witnesses. It also depends on what type of execution is used. If you are interested in witnessing this, talk to your local sheriff and see what you can do.

Capital crimes are state law crimes (with the exception of treason), and the laws of the individual states governs who witnesses the executions. Generally prison staff, official witnesses like a district attorney or judge, members of the victim’s family, and representatives of the convicted felon are allowed to be present. It is typically a small group of no more than two dozen. Federal law outlaws public executions, so all executions take place within the confines of a prison in a room specially designated for executions, and space limitations may also limit the number of witnesses.
